Last week was a glorious week for flowers and sharing visits with friends. I came back from our Sisters of Spirit Hawaii retreat completely ‘woke’ by the beauty nature offers… in the wild, in preserves, in manicured gardens, in our own yards. Artists and photographers have long been inspired by flowers. Filoli Gardens currently has a Glass Art installation that is a delightful play on nature’s beauty.  My own ‘seeing’ is influenced by Zen photographers, and artists such as Monet, Cezanne, Van Gogh and O’Keeffe.  I invite us all to take the time to slow down, to see, smell, feel the connection between our selves and our earth mother. American painter (and one of my idols) Georgia O’Keeffe said, “Nobody sees a flower – really – it is so small it takes time – we haven’t time – and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time…”   Here’s to friends and flowers and mother nature.
